Cristina Nombela Otero
Cristina Nombela Otero is a Tomás y Valiente researcher in the Department of Biological and Health Psychology at the Autonomous University of Madrid. For over 20 years, she has worked on cognitive impairments associated with Parkinson's disease, focusing on the characterization of disease profiles and the effects of various treatments, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological. Her research integrates neuroimaging techniques, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG), with neuropsychological assessments and clinical data.
Her international experience includes:
- University of Cambridge (England), postdoctoral researcher (2010-2014)
- Hospital de la Pitié-Salpêtrière (Paris, France), predoctoral researcher (2006-2007)
- Università La Sapienza di Roma (Italy), predoctoral researcher (2001-2002)
Currently, she leads projects on the effects of combined exercise and direct current cortical stimulation therapy in elderly individuals with frailty, evaluating motor activity, neuropsychological aspects, and electroencephalographic effects.
